today was interesting enough that i decided to post pictures of it.
firstly while i was at work some asshole stole the seat from darcy's bike. i have a feeling he's gonna kill me, i already owe him $30. if i see the douche who stole it i'm gonna push them off their bike. they're probably local. so anyway i had to ride the bike home standing up on the pedals and almost fell off quite a few times.
then i nearly chopped the tip of my thumb off cutting onions and we didnt have any tissues and one of our british backpackers was hogging the bathroom. a delivery guy came to drop off a package and i asked if he had any tissues in his van. he didnt but he did have THIS KICKASS PROTECTIVE SUIT which he got down at a job in kurnell apparently. so yeah he gave it to me to wrap around my thumb. pretty sweet huh?
whoa english is over for good. this is seriously amazing. i guess i'm happy that it introduced me to aldous huxley, the second most kickass fictional author in my very biased opinion.
hannyway to celebrate here is a thingymagigamabob:

this is not a paid advertisement as much as it sounds like one of those spam emails you get.
modest mouse and AFI at the same time! multitasker extraordinaire

oh god jjj is pissing me off so much these days. i need a new station to listen to. anyone have any suggestions? there's only so much newsradio i can take while i'm waiting.
pfft in love with silverchair much?
and seriously, did they really need to replace john safran and father bob with that total douche they have on now? his whole pretending-ironically-to-be-right-wing thing is laaaaaaammme (almost as lame as typing lame like that)
i should have severed ties when they started whoring out lily allen.
so in conclusion i poo poo on jjj.
on the other hand i dont poo poo on this guy. he is awesome.
once there was a girl called CARMEN who developed the hots for a barmen. They went out one night had a massive fight then she had five kids called CARMEN
NB: her kids were called CARMEN, CARMEN, CARMEN, CARMEN AND CARMEN.
apparently veronica mars is gonna be cancelled after the fourth season. Wow, i'll bet CARMEN is pretty pissed. Yeah CARMEN sure loves that show what with all her VM icons.
also how funny was it that time when CARMEN and zer both turned up to mufti day in the same minnie mouse dress. I felt stupid because i insisted that MM wore pink. i guess i was thinking of daffy duck's girlfriend. but anyway it was all good because CARMEN and zer set me straight. well mainly zer but that's besides the point.
you know what else is funny? if you repeat a word enough times it stops making sense. Take the example of CARMEN. i'd say that i've typed CARMEN out quite a few times in the past few minutes and i actually had doubts about if i was spelling it right. So i typed CARMEN into google and sure enough it was spelt C-A-R-M-E-N rather than carmin which was what my crazy mind told me was the right spelling.
Now if this isnt the most CARMENish page on the net then i dont know what is.
- the CARMEN electra fanpage? - www.CARMENsandiego.com? - CARMEN of america? (as in men who sell cars) - one of those crazy websites where people with the same name congregate and talk about how cool their name is (like "homagourd how awesome is the name CARMEN?" "yeah totally, i thank my lucky stars everyday that my mummy and daddy called me CARMEN instead of some dodgy name like carmine" "we should meet up for tea and biscuits" "yay!" etc)
noam chomsky-understanding power: i read this book over about 3 days because it was pretty absorbing. it's really easy to read due to it's form which is like questions and answers because it's basically edited transcripts of discussions with him. okay i really dont understand how he knew so much about all this random stuff that people would ask. like statistics and dates etc off the top of his head. The part about education was interesting too. but a lot of it doesnt really apply outside of the US in that it was a criticism of their power systems.
ok why is jjj playing that stupid jane fonda song? it's terrible.
because i dont think i or anyone else read enough these days i'm starting my own book club. with one member. that being me. but in happier news, my f-list gets to hear about it. because i cant have book club meetings with myself.
over the last two weeks i've read:
History of AIDS, emergance and origin of a modern pandemic by Mirko D. Grmek - Apparently this is the pivotal must read book on AIDS. Very interesting combining epidemiology, virology, history, human rights. Yup clearly the perfect mix of topics for me. for serious. i hate fiction. But yeah not a book for people who dont like acronyms because there are about a bazillion and one on each page.
The coming plague, newly emerging diseases in a world out of balance by Laurie Garrett - Ok do i see a pattern here? Omg i learnt so many new words from this book like typonym and retrovirus and the difference between epidemic/pandemic/endemic. Even if you're not interested in disease it's worth reading the chapters on 'thirdworldization', nature and homo sapiens and searching for solutions. It's really interesting how it talks about the interactions between disease, urbanisation, war, pollution etc.
Conscientious objections, stirring up trouble about language, technology and education by Neil Postman - A little old considering it's about pop culture but still really relevant and easy to read. It's basically a collection of essays and speeches about random stuff. I did learn a lot about sociology from it thoguh. It made me feel stupid because i cant explain my opinions properly. Yeah, it's one of those makes-you-feel-inferior books but once you've read it you can make other people feel stupid with your newfound ways of thinking! yay.
god i cant belive how much independent learning i do. it's disgusting. very unaustralian.
damn i wish i had some sort of crazy adventure to recount but unfortunately my life is pretty boring at the moment. so in light of the current situation i bring come bearing (old) photos.
i love the psychadelic swirl here. i was so far back that this was the biggest my camera could make them.
three guesses what band this is. it's pretty obvious i think.
ok so finally i get my own personalised maths exam question and i screw it up. thats four pairs. FOUR pairs! not two! somehow i read it as four socks which are pairs. I only hope melissa had better luck with her personalised question. although it was superannuation.
all in all much better than last years countdown although there was far too much of: -the grates -lily allen -aussie indie pop solo artists like josh pyke, darren hanlon, bob evans, sarah blasko sorry guys but in hell they play these people on repeat. FOR INFINITY. ben folds not included in this list because he is at least inventive and did an awesome cover of such great heights.
yay augie march-beautiful song.
i'm very happy that gotye got number 8 and relieved that the whistling song didnt win. okgo proved that you can break the top 15 just because you have a cool video clip. yes the clip is great but their music is a load of crap.

hope you all had a great xmas/hannukah/whatever and new years. i've already broken my new years resolution as per usual. anyways my traditional caring about tennis for two or three weeks per year started today so yay for that. i hate it how whenever i get slightly into anything it turns into this full blown obsession where i try to get really good at/learn everything about it. but i dunno maybe this year i will get tennis lessons. i've wanted to for a while now. and since my lengthy love affair with soccer (5 years) is over i guess theres room for something for my mum to pump money into until i get sick of it. but anywayyy remember back in the day (last year) where i said novak djokovich would make it big? probably not but he was ranked like 80 or so and now he's 14 so yeah take that bitches!
